Earlier in the summer, Abbey contacted me about possibly getting tattoos from me this October, for her and her husband Kurt. She sent me a pic of the image they wanted and as soon as I saw the design, I knew what it was right away (I'm also a Studio Ghibli and "Spirited Away" fan) and knew it would be the perfect tattoo for them to share.
She says, "My husband and I are Yoopers, from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Portland, Oregon is a place we both have always wanted to visit, so for our 13th wedding anniversary we decided to finally take the trip. Our first day in the city, we scheduled an appointment to get matching tattoos that we’ve always wanted, and all I can say is spending time in Victoria’s studio at Floating Lotus Tattoo Studio was the perfect way to kick off our trip.
We chose matching Kodama tattoos in honor of our son, who loves all things Miyazaki. The Kodama is a Japanese Forest Spirit and our little family spends a lot of time out in nature, so this piece of art and its folklore seemed the perfect way to symbolize our family.
