Marcie's Darcy's Donkey

I met Marcie through my local Burning Man fbook pages; she came in to see me in 2023 with a fantastic, involved and very funny story featuring several donkeys, that happened to her on her way to the Burn one year. So of course I said I'd be happy to help when she said she wanted to commemorate the experience with a thigh tattoo. (We were only able to get the outline done in 2023, so I am glad to finish the piece.)

She says, "I thought about my tattoo for a long time and on the tenth year anniversary of accidentally killing the poor donkey [on the way to Burning Man] I finally went through with getting the ink. So, of course, I knew it must be placed in the same spot where I got the huge bruise on my thigh— always in commemoration of hope, silver linings and how lucky we were that we did not kill any of the humans while we were weaving through the donkeys, and how lucky we were that we did not kill our truck.

Why is this donkey tattoo multifaceted and meaningful to me? In a completely separate year, I accidentally insulted one of the bagpipe players from one of my favorite bands, Gaelic Storm, and coincidentally, their mascot happens to be the 'Darcy Donkey'."

Here are some photos of the drawing, the outline (tattooed in 2023) and the very, very fresh final tattoo stages.
