When Dan came in to see me about doing something for his left arm, he knew he wanted to add something to the Douglas Adams inspired tat he'd gotten on his forearm. He was thinking sunflowers for his mom and maybe a mountain landscape somewhere, but wasn't sure how that was going to relate to his current tattoo. I suggested we have the sunflowers in their various stages of development grow and climb up and around the current tat to transform and unify the whole arm. We could have the mountain provide the background for his upper arm. After his consultation, he asked if he could also add a caterpillar and the resulting butterfly somewhere. He says, "After getting DON'T PANIC tattooed in big, friendly letters on my forearm, I caught the ink bug. I knew I wanted to fill out the rest of my arm, and I knew I wanted a partner who would be willing to listen to my ideas and then translate them visually. I was so honored and excited when Victoria agreed to take on my project, and I couldn't be happier with the sessions or the results. I can't wait to see the final piece realized once our coloring sessions are finished, but I don't want it to end! I guess it's a good thing I have some other project ideas in mind."
Here are some pictures of the drawing, before, outline and some almost finished color stages.
